Make It Monday #47: 2011 A la Carte

Hello and happy new year to Y'all!  Yes, I am a southerner and today is one of the reasons why I love the south so much.  The sky is utterly cloudless and the outside temperature is 60 degrees.  Even the humidity is low.  (I won't be able to say that in a few months!)  A stampin' buddy is coming over shortly and it's just an all-round great day.  I hope yours is going well also.

In case you are not a regular Papertrey Ink fan, you should definitely take a look at Nichole Heady's blog HERE this week just to see the entire list of previous Make It Monday videos! What a wealth of crafting techniques.  AND it's not too late to join the challenge for this week.  The idea here is to choose one of the techniques from the past year that you missed out on.  I chose Make It Monday #13:  Impression Plate Tricks #2 presented by Erin Lincoln.

Here's my project:

Here are the details:  Everything is Papertrey Ink!

Card stock:  Aqua Mist

Envelopes:  Kraft

Impression Plate:  Sunshine

Die:  Angled Labels
Stamp:  Fresh Alphabet, Trehan Monogram Edition
Other:  Versamark Ink, Silver Embossing powder

Erin does a great job of explaining this technique in the video.  If you haven't tried it, give it a go-I think it makes a very interesting card.  I'd love to hear what you think as well.

Thanks for stopping by,
Suzanne

  2. Hey Suzanne!! This is one technique I haven't had the guts to try and you've pulled it off SO well, it is so classy and like the above commenter said, it looks expensive. I love that you also embossed the envelope flap. A very delicate and thoughtful touch :)

  5. Wow, Suzanne, what a totally awesome CAS design! I love the simplicity and elegance of it! Thanks for your good wishes on my blog--yes I'm feeling much better. Just in time for our 70 degree weather. Last year this time we had 8 inches of snow on the ground!

  6. Such an elegant design!! Definitely a technique I need to try.
To answer your question, I just lay down the butterfly die-cut where I wanted it and then stamped over the original background to match em up. Thanks for your kind comment!

  13. Love this classy design Suzanne. I tried this technique and found that the upturned die cut through the paper, even with two rubber embossing mats between it and the paper. Did the 'backside' of your card front have a cut, but not all the way through?

I need to follow you, because I don't want to miss a bit of your brilliance, but first I need to figure out what is involved. (I'm still struggling with inconsistencies in my blog template!) Happy New Year Suzanne and may it be filled with your creativity.
