This month, in honor of the New Year, we are challenging you to pick your favorite project from 2011 and share it with all of us. To take it a step further, you are challenged to create a second card that is inspired by the favorite project you select. Your new version of an old favorite could carry over the color scheme, the layout or the stamp sets. We look forward to seeing your best creations from 2011, as well as your first projects from 2012!
Hi There!
I enjoyed looking back through my cards as I chose which I would use as my favorite project of 2011. I decided on "Bliss" because I felt my execution of Copic coloring and stamping as well as color choices and layering were well done. I have just never figured out what to do with a card that says"Bliss" on the front!
I enjoyed looking back through my cards as I chose which I would use as my favorite project of 2011. I decided on "Bliss" because I felt my execution of Copic coloring and stamping as well as color choices and layering were well done. I have just never figured out what to do with a card that says"Bliss" on the front!
The card base is a pre-fold with envelopes from Hobby Lobby and the images are stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. A variety of Copic Markers were used to color the flowers. (Everything else for both cards is from PTI) The mat layer is Royal Velvet card stock, stamp set used is Year of Flowers: Morning Glories.
For the remake, I chose the same layout but wanted to try a different approach to Copic coloring. Maile Belles used Copics on one of her Rosie Posie release projects that made me squeal with delight. I have been looking forward to giving this a go, so here it is:
I am in love with Rosie Posie and the coordinating dies which I have used here and then layered with dimensional foam. The peonies were stamped with Sweet Blush Ink then a variety of Copic Markers were added. The leaves are stamped with Spring Moss Ink as is the frame and "Mom" from Framed. The card base is Spring Moss and the mat layer is Berry Sorbet.
So there you have it! My new version of an old favorite. As always, I would appreciate your comments. I look forward to hearing from you!
Thanks for stopping by,
Suzanne
You're so funny, Suzanne-I wouldn't know what to do with bliss either, but it IS a gorgeous card. Hmmm, will have to give it some thought. I really love the way you colored the flowers. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh my WORD are these gorgeous cards! I am so pinning your Rosie Posie card, I have GOT to try coloring one that way! I think your "Bliss" card would be perfect for a wedding shower??? Even a wedding!! Amazing style!
ReplyDeleteLove both cards. The 2nd one is soo colorful with those bright colors of the rosie posie. Love the soft green leaves.
ReplyDeleteOh both beauties but your Copic colouring is just spectacular.
ReplyDeleteStunningly GORGEOUS -- BOTH of them -- I only dream of coloring/shading that beautifully!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely coloring on both, but I especially love your morning glories!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a stunning project you chose for your inspiration, and equally stunning new one! You have totally mastered that new Copic streaking technique--in fact you could teach a class!
ReplyDeleteWell, today's card is just gorgeous! LOL about Maile's cards - I find myself squealing with delight when I see her cards, too. ;-D This is such a beautiful card, I love how you colored the Rosie Posie blooms - in such a lovely color. And as for the first card that says 'bliss'... you should totally frame it because it's a superb work of art! Hang it up in your craft room to be admired and provide inspiration. ;-) It's that beautiful!
ReplyDeletebeautiful coloring on both cards.
ReplyDeleteOh, my. These are both absolutely gorgeous. Your coloring is amazing. I love how you did that Rosie Posie flower. I had to laugh at your comment about 'bliss' Sometimes the sentiments I use or the cards I make really have no practical use whatsoever. Isn't that fun?
ReplyDeleteYou just always amaze me! The coloring in the first one is just perfect. The second card so gorgeous as soon as I leave this post I am placing another order. Hope they still have it!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!!! What beautiful cards!!! I just love how you colored the stamped image!!! Pure gorgeousness!
ReplyDeleteYour coloring (on both cards) is truly spectacular. My lowly colored pencils and I don't hold a candle. I also love how you added even more depth and texture on your remake with the foam adhesive. Isn't that stuff great. Wonderful work! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteomg i love them both!! im in love with rosie posie right now too and i think your card is stunning!!
ReplyDeleteI am falling in love with Rosie Posie. What an adorable card you made with this set.
ReplyDeleteThey are both beautiful cards ~ you did a great job with the coloring. A very belated thank you for your very kind words on my PTI gallery. Thanks!! Jean
ReplyDeleteYou made me LOL--I never could figure out the "bliss" thing either! Both of these are wonderful, though. Your coloring is super in the first, and the added dimension from the Copics in the second is, well, just delightful. And somehow you made me think there really may be a place for "bliss" on a card!
ReplyDeleteOh, wow, Suzanne! This is so beautiful! Your colouring is amazing! I laughed at your comment about the sentiment "bliss". I have a few bliss cards that I'm not sure what to do with, too! LOL! Maybe for a "I'm happy for you" kind of card? :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards. I love your colouring of the flowers. The colours work so well together. Thinking I'm going to have to get that Rosie-posie set!
ReplyDeleteSuzanne, your coloring if these flowers is nothing short of breath-taking. Oh my goodness...to have that coloring skill! :) Beautiful cards!
ReplyDeleteOh you fabulous artist! Both of these cards are spectacular, but the coloring with the copics on top of the stamp color reminds me of the beginning-to-mid-last-century fabric and paper prints. The well defined color areas (as opposed to blending) between the shades in a color family, is a look I adore, and until now, could not imagine reproducing. I will print out your card and try this technique myself. Thanks again for being my muse and teacher.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! Your coloring is spectacular!!! You've totally changed my mind about Rosie Posie.
ReplyDeleteOh both of these are just lovely!
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! You know how to color some flowers! They are so realistic and glorious! I thought I loved the first until I saw the second with Rosey Posey....gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBoth of your cards are absolutely gorgeous. Your coloring is just amazing. Great job!
