Holiday Card Boot Camp, Day 4, Project #1

Hi There!  It feels good to get my project for today posted a little earlier than usual.  Unfortunately, I did not get to try my hand at Project #2 for today which is an acetate card.  I am waiting for delivery of acetate card stock that should arrive on Monday.  Maybe I can catch up then.

My project today is a pocket card designed for enclosing a newsletter or perhaps cash.
It measures 3 3/4" X 8 1/2".  Starting with a sheet of 8.5 X 11" Kraft card stock, I scored the 11" side at 3 3/4" and again at 7 1/2".  I trimmed off 3/4"of the remaining section to form the pocket; making it fold up from the bottom of the card and give plenty of room to add the enclosure.  Staples were used to secure the sides of the pocket, but if I do this again, I will use 1/8th" scor-tape instead.

I love the sentiment on the inside

Here's the full view when the recipient opens the card

It is so fun and interesting to use the sketches from designers like Kristina Werner, who presented the tutorial for the project I have shown here.  I am learning a lot!  Thanks goodness I have access to the class after it ends in two weeks.  I know I will refer to it again and again.

Well, laundry beckons!  I hope you have a most pleasant evening and I look forward to seeing you again tomorrow!

Thanks for stopping by,

  1. Fabulous! I haven't had a chance to try this one yet, but it's on my desk and hopefully I'll find some time for catching up over the weekend.

These will be wonderful to create for the people I'm giving money and gift cards too! PERECT!!

Glad you shared yours in the Gallery!

  2. Oh I love all those green and red stripes! Looks great, especially on the Wonderful Words die cut! :)

PS - thanks for the comment on my blog!

  3. Fabulous! What a great idea for a newsletter holder! Love the stripy "Merry" too.

  4. What a fabulous composition. Was it a challenge after all those card shaped canvases? It looks like you sewed around the perimeter and that would be a way to go, rather than the staples. I look forward to seeing your next creation.

  5. Wow, love your take on this card! It's very beautiful!!
