Make It Monday #48: Creating Backgrounds with Border Dies

Good Morning!
It's raining cats and dogs right now and I am glad to have a dry, and comfortable place to drink coffee and talk with you about making cards!  There are several challenges I hope to enter this week and one I look forward to every Monday is MIM from Nichole Heady's blog.  Check it out HERE.  The January release preview is under way, so after you see some fabulous new products, scroll down to the video tutorial by Dawn McVey.

Can I just say... I had a blast making this card.  I've never given a lot of thought to Valentine cards.  I make one for my Sweetheart and that's about it.  But I have Valentines on the brain right now and a LOT of stamp sets with which to create them.  It was so fun to mix and match several sets, use the masking technique on many of the tickets and feel as though I had come up with a card that a man would enjoy receiving.  The inside is blank and as Erin Lincoln would say, "you can add something a little racy"!

  1. I really like how you did this. All the little tickets are so cute and clever.

  2. Love the diagonals and a different look to each of the tickets!

  3. Oh, this is wonderful. How fun to decorate each ticket, and I love the diagonal.

  4. Wow, girl - this card is fantastic!! You really knocked yourself out, and I just love it. So many great little details here - you're a very patient card maker! LOL. ;-) I really, really like this card. So original and clever. Nice job!

  5. Oh, I really like this. Love how you stamped all those images inside the tickets. Very creative! :o)

  6. Again I love this one ! So creative, but I am wishing I had this die too. I guess I never bought enough of the boarders. Loving every little detail , the die cut hearts etc. Nice! Love my coffee too!

  7. Ahhh, so pretty and I love all the variety with the sentiments but still it all seems so "tied together". Beautiful job!

  8. Absolutely love this, Suzanne! Thank you for the inspiration.

  9. Love this card, Suzanne..it definitely makes me smile!

  10. WOW Suzanne this is awesome! Pure valentine delight ;)

  11. Love this! I just ordered 2010 Love Tags, so I can't wait to play with it like you did with Just the Ticket. Great combo!

  12. So by now, you must be aware of your 'rock star' status. Seriously, you are now one of the three blogs that I won't miss a post. Again you took this challenge outside the box. The border die IS the focal point as well as the background. The detail (and careful masking) is just amazing. This card must have taken some serious design time. (You've been so generous with sharing emails with me, I don't know where you found the time.) Your Valentine mojo is smoking hot!

  13. Oh my word your cards are beautiful! I've been looking through you post and am inspired to try some of your designs! Thanks again for stopping by my blog and leaving such a nice comment - I am your newest follower :)

    1. Welcome! I am delighted to have you as a new follower! I look forward to seeing you and your beautiful work often!
